10 Salesforce Winter ‘18 Release Features We Can’t Wait to Use
As you might have guessed already, Salesforce Winter ‘18 Release includes improvements all across the board. Simply put, you will notice new features regardless of the Salesforce module that your company is using.
01. Evaluate Leads with Einstein Lead Scoring in Salesforce Classic
SFDC is fully aware that not everybody is ready to make the switch from Salesforce Classic to Lightning Experience. Because of that, it will enable Reps to monitor Leads straight from Salesforce Classic, using Einstein Lead Scoring. Using this tool, reps will have a better understanding of what makes the score move up or down.
02. Manage Sales Territories in Lightning Experience
Previously only available in Salesforce Classic, sales territories can now be managed from Lightning Experience. This will enable you to see which territories are assigned to which Sales reps, or the other way around.
03. Large Companies Can Now Use Multiple Currencies
Companies working across multiple countries will be delighted to find out that Salesforce has enabled the use of multiple currencies in Lightning Experience, Salesforce Classic and Salesforce1. Prior to this, companies had to contact Salesforce Support to enable multiple currencies, so this change is definitely welcome. To enable it, go to Company Information, click Edit and check Activate Multiple Currencies.
04. Lead Conversion Gets Streamlined in Lightning Experience
Since a lot of users have complained that lead conversion in Lightning left a lot to be desired, Salesforce has proceeded to implementing a solution. While not a new feature, the lead conversion process has been thoroughly improved. The greatest benefit is that it will allow users to either attach leads to an existing record or create a new one.
05. Instant Search Results Get Spell Correction and More
Looking up a record in the past wasn’t that difficult of a task, but Salesforce has decided to improve this process as well, at least on Lightning Experience. Instant search results are now available, so you’ll get to the right record without even visiting the search results page. On top of that, spell correction has been added to the search function, so you’ll get relevant suggestions even if the query has spelling errors.
06. Track How Multiple Campaigns Influence Opportunities
Sales and Marketing teams using Pardot haven’t been forgotten by Salesforce. The change here is represented by the pre-built models that are now integrated into Customizable Campaign Influence. In other words, coding your own model or asking users to do it is no longer necessary. Using these insights will then enable your Sales and Marketing departments to close deals more easily.
07. Home Tab and Lightning Apps Now Feature Embeddable Dashboards
The idea behind providing embeddable dashboards is to enable users to access the data they need when they need it. The Winter ‘18 Release was clearly developed with accessibility in mind, and the fact that sales teams can view the information they need right after logging into Salesforce is additional proof of that.
08. Time Field Type Enables Better Time Management
Initially a pilot release in Summer ‘17, the time field type has now entered the beta stage and has been included in the Winter ‘18 release. Regardless if your company needs to improve its time management, project management or time management, the time field type can help you. Even though the feature can be accessed in Lighting Experience, Salesforce Classic and Salesforce 1, for the time being it’s only available in Sandboxes and Developer Editions. In case you’re using any of the other editions, you’ll have to talk to Salesforce to enable it for you.
09. Story Timeline Highlights the Factors Driving Changes
Being able to pinpoint the things that worked over a specific period of time is extremely important, both for the Sales and Marketing departments. And that’s exactly what the Story Timeline feature does. It enables you to compare two time-frames in order to better understand what caused the positive changes. This particular feature will have a major impact on decision-making and on the improvement strategies implemented by organizations.
10. Macros and Live Agent Are Making Their Way to the Console
Users of the Lightning Service Console will appreciate the improved productivity following the addition of Macros and Live Agent. For starters, Macros help you solve issues more efficiently and enable you to automate repetitive processes. The Lightning Experience Live Agent enables you to chat with your customers, and also gives you access to chat transcripts.
The Salesforce Winter ‘18 Release is accompanied by no less than 589 pages of release notes, which in turn means that the number of new features is impressive, as well. The ones listed above represent some of the most relevant features for most companies featuring a sales team.
